ABSTRACT:Serving the public interest is the fundamental mission of the state. Citizens expect employees of public authorities to perform their duties honestly, transparently and in a fair way. If a civil servant ignores these expectations and puts his own interests first, it undermines people's trust in the state. What is a conflict of interest, and how can it be dealt with?
